Doosan Robotics has pushed for artificial intelligence (AI)-centered technological innovation and has started to secure talent to enter the humanoid business.
Doosan Robotics announced on the 14th that it held a town hall meeting at Doosan Tower in Bundang on the 11th with CEO Kim Min-pyo and all executives and employees attending.
At the meeting, CEO Kim emphasized the need to enter the humanoid business.
The practical humanoid targeted by Doosan Robotics is a robot that can perform the tasks requested by users most efficiently through optimization of shape and function. For practical humanoids, Doosan Robotics plans to preemptively develop ‘long horizon task technology’ that can perform more complex and sophisticated tasks by controlling multiple arms at the same time ▲ ‘collision avoidance technology’ that helps safe work using sensors and algorithms in various environments ▲ ‘long horizon task technology’ that allows robots to establish their own work plans and perform complex tasks in multiple stages.
According to Morgan Stanley, the size of the AI-based robot solution market is expected to grow from about 6 trillion won in 2030 to about 338 trillion won in 2040, as demand for process automation continues to increase.
To this end, it was decided to secure talent first. From the 21st, it will open recruitment of experienced employees in all fields such as robot R&D, application engineering, AI, software, user experience (UX), quality, and sales through its website and various recruitment platforms. In the second half of the year, AI & software and humanoid R&D organizations will be established and an integrated R&D center with an optimal robot R&D environment will be established.
It also highlighted the need to convert the business, which was ubiquitous in hardware, into an “intelligent robot solution.”
The intelligent robot solution is a Plug & Play product that integrates the hardware, software, and artificial intelligence (AI) functions of cooperative robots and can be operated immediately after installation. Through AI, work paths and sequences can be optimized, work time can be minimized, and efficient work is possible through collaboration between multiple cooperative robots.
In particular, intelligent robot solutions are expected to be applied with specialized artificial intelligence (ANI) to increase and optimize individual tasks such as logistics, welding, and coffee manufacturing, and to make maintenance easier with operations based on international robot safety standards.
Doosan Robotics first plans to release intelligent robot solutions related to automation in the manufacturing sector within this year and expand the field step by step.
CEO Kim said to executives and employees, “In order to become a top tier in the intelligent robot market with greater growth potential beyond the cooperative robot market, we need to lead the product super gap through technological innovation and provide more value to customers. In order to achieve the goal early, let’s not only mobilize all available resources such as technology development and internalization, strategic partnerships, and securing M&A opportunities, but also continue innovation by establishing an execution-oriented organizational culture.”
